How do I register in a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)?

Both University of Alberta students and the general public can enrol in a MOOC, which is a form of distance education to encourage unlimited participation and open access online.

You can register for free to take the MOOC, but no university credit will be granted. For a modest free, you will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.
If you are a student at the U of A (in Open Studies or degree-granting program), you can register in specific course section of the MOOC for university credit. You are encouraged to speak to your faculty if you intend to use credits earned from a MOOC to meet degree requirements.

You can view the full listing of MOOCs on the U of A’s website. Any questions about registration or content of a MOOC should be directed to the teaching department offering the course.

Any questions about taking a class for free or for a certificate should be directed to Coursera.
